Detroit Pharmacy is a
community orientated pharmacy that was established with a mission of
providing our patients with quality, personalized, compassionate,
fast and friendly service tailored to the specific needs of the
clientele we serve, with special emphasis being placed on servicing
the seniors and those persons needing one on one attention as it
relates to their daily medication routine.
Detroit Pharmacy was
established as a necessary reaction to the bad situation that
patients. As pharmacists, we observed how the health care system in
the United States has deteriorated to the point that Wall Street and
the profitability of the chains became the main focus while the
wellbeing of the citizens became the least concerning topic.
·
The Decision to choose their
Physician has been taken away from most patients.
·
Doctors cannot decide anymore
what drugs they should prescribe, formularies Dictate the drug on
the doctor.
·
Pharmacists have to make phone
calls to switch the patient to a formulary drug or a less expensive
generic version.
·
In order to satisfy Wall Street
and their profitability budgets, chains drug stores are only
operating busy stores (hundreds of prescriptions per day) leaving
the concerned patient as a number. Patient counseling and direct
interaction with the pharmacists is almost inexistent, due to budget
constraints.
·
Pharmacists are being rushed,
and the major emphasis of these chains is quantity (how many scripts
can you fill a day), not quality. Pharmacies must be health care
providers, not impersonal assembly lines.
At
Detroit Pharmacy we decided in a very
humble way to fight the existing unfair conditions and try to
bring back the interaction between pharmacists and patients.
OUR SERVICE IS WHAT DIFFERENTIATES US FROM
THE COMPETITION. Our focus
is always the health and well being of the patient and we do spend
the time and energy to make the right calls and the better judgment.
·
We treat all patients as just
that (not numbers) in a courteous and professional manner. We spend
time listening to them and offering them the best advice related to
their specific healthcare issues.
·
We do call the doctors to
inquire about their medications, their specific disease state and
offer the best intervention treatment. We act as a liaison between
Dr and patient, assuring that each patient has a complete
understanding of their medications.
·
We do set up and spend time with
the patients to explain to them the do’s and don’t about their
medicine as well as some more helpful hints to help with their
disease state. We do set up monthly counseling time where
pharmacists and patients can spend time one on one.
·
We deliver medications to
Dialysis clinics, senior homes, assisted living homes or community
homes free of charge if patients unable to pick up their medication.
·
We do arrange for Educational
presentations/ events at our facility or on location (agreed upon)
with healthcare experts. (Diabetes days, brown bags, blood pressure
days…).
·
Our Pharmacists are diabetes
Certified.
·
We do provide equal and fair
treatment for every customer. All patients have the same
accessibility to legally prescribed control drugs without any hassle
or accusations of abuse.
·
We accept most insurance plans.
·
We do spend the time to call
doctors and obtain all required prior authorizations for Medicaid
customers.
·
We compound all commonly
prescribed compounds with a turnover of less than 24 hours.
·
We do offer call back programs
and reminder programs to remind seniors about their upcoming refill
(Auto-refill optional). We make sure that all prescriptions are in
stock before the refill due date.
·
We package all drugs in blister
packs if needed so that patients can determine their own compliance.
·
We do get drug
deliveries/shipments every day so no one will go over 24 hours
without medication in case we do not have it in stock. As a result,
all orders placed prior to 6 pm are guaranteed in
stock for the next day.
·
We do review the Medicare
options with the seniors and offer them the cheapest alternative
Medicare card provider.
·
WE
PLEDGE TO PUT THE WORD ‘COMMUNITY’ BACK INTO THE PHARMACY PRACTICE
WITH THE PATIENTS DICTATING HOW THEY WILL BE SERVICED, NOT THE
RETAILER.
·
CUSTOMER SERVICE FIRST AND
FOREMOST.
